Newly Inaugurated OAU VC, Prof. Bamire,  Reveals Plan To Install CCTV On OAU Campus


The newly inaugurated OAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bamire Simeon, has revealed his plans to install CCTV in strategic places on OAU campus to improve the security system. Recall that Prof. Bamire was inducted into the office of the Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious university on the 7th of June, 2022. 


The Professor of Agriculture made this revelation during a visit to his office by the leadership of the Students Representative Council  (SRC) of the Great Ife Students' Union on Monday 27th of June.   


The purpose of the visit was to congratulate him on the assumption of office and to discuss some issues related to the welfare of OAU students.


The Vice-Chancellor was delighted to meet the SRC; he appreciated the kind gesture and encouraged more of the visit. 


Various genuine issues affecting Great Ife students were tabled in the meeting by the Leadership of the Students Representative Council. 


The highlighted issues  include: 


  • Changing all Water closets at all residences and passage of pipeline water to the toilets.
  • Industrial borehole and substantial water tanks at each Block in the hall of residence. 
  • Renovation and facelift of all Hall residences buildings. 
  • Equipping all laboratories and renovating all lecture theatres. 
  • Filling of Portholes on campus and open spaces
  • Streetlight across the campus.
  • Increase in the in-take of Students in school hostels to reduce the rate of students living off-campus. 
  • Employment of more health personnel at the Health Centre and Revamping of Health Center and computerisation of the file system. 
  • Timely releasing of students' results and easy process of Transcript. 
  • Transforming of Hezekiah Oluwasanmi to E-Library
  • The School management should work on Lecturers/Students relationships.

  • The students should be having access to their School ID cards promptly and the delay should be worked upon because of the security situation in the country.


In response to all issues raised, Professor Bamire promised to work on them and appreciated the Student Representative Council's effort in putting forward the students' interests.
